Paisleys is the oldest established firm of solicitors in Workington and one of the most long-established firms in Cumbria. The firm has been based in West Cumbria for over 140 years and its roots can be traced back to 1879. The firm is long-established in its Jane Street premises. The firm believes that people prefer to deal with a local firm of solicitors. Solicitor & Senior Partner

John, as well as being Senior Partner since 2014, is currently the Head of the Crime Department and is a seasoned litigator in all aspects of criminal law work. He is duty solicitor accredited and can provide representation at all stages, from the Police Station to the Magistrates Court and even the Crown court due to being an HCA.

​John is also the firm’s Money Laundering Reporting Officer and Compliance Officer.

Outside of work John is the Chairman of the Cockermouth Round Table.  Through his work with the Round Table John is involved in lots of Charity work in Cumbria.

Conveyancer

Joanne is our Residential Conveyancer. Joanne has worked and gained most of her experience working for a number of large Law firms in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. Since moving to the area in 2009 she has worked for local firms & joined us in 2017. Joanne is experienced in all aspects of residential Conveyancing, including sales, purchase, re-mortgages, transfers of ownership and shared ownership schemes. Joanne has a keen interest in unregistered Conveyancing and deals with the majority of the unregistered land for Paisleys.

Joanne is a member of the Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) Conveyancing specialist reference group. CILEx engages with members such as Joanne on policy and professional matters within the Legal Industry. These answers and views are referred to decision makers and the wider legal community.

​Joanne is also part of the team who manages the social media, website and marketing for the firm.
